Kootenay Columbia College’s Registered Massage Therapy Program is a stand-alone program. Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences, previously The Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences (ACOS) since 1996 is a well-established school now in its 20th year of PTIB accreditation (Private Training Institutions Branch). This standing means that our programs, instructors, and facilities are all government approved and regulated and that our students are eligible for student loans. Our Traditional Chinese Medicine graduates have successful practices all over the world and ACOS is renowned for its comprehensive educational programs and its rigorous academic standards.
This is a two year program with preliminary accreditation from CMTBC. This intensive program runs over 6 semesters (90 weeks). Students enrolling in the massage program will receive intensive instruction, not only in Massage Therapy, but in Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology, Orthopaedics, and other Health sciences.
Successful graduates will have the freedom to practice where they choose. At the end of the course, students will be eligible to write their licensing exams with CMTBC.
This is a Comprehensive Program combining academic & practical courses with extensive practicum experience. Students will receive Practical Training in both our student-operated clinic and patient outreaches for real experience.
Unique components of our program include the integration of Peace Studies into our Professional Development and Communication courses, as well as innovative Self-care courses that are designed to connect students to the local community and allow them to learn through movement.
